Saskatoon Cyclone
Weekly Preview: Two more games closer to the end …
St. Clair Shores Saints @ Saskatoon Cyclone Wayne Gretzky snaps home two goals including one on the first shot of the game as Saskatoon holds on to win 3-2 over St. Clair. Excitement, excitement, excitement …
Syracuse Bulldogs @ Saskatoon Cyclone Not so much excitement in this one as Syracuse treats the Cyclone like the prettiest guy in Alcatraz winning 5-0. Saskatoon actually outshot Syracuse by a decent margin if memory serves, but kudos go out to Denis Herron who played so poorly he actually probably deserved to be the prettiest boy in Alcatraz. I like him about as much now as I did back when he played.
Weekly Summary: Another split … hey have we had a trade in this league yet? I’ll trade Denis Herron for some magic beans and a moth-eaten poster of David Hasselhoff lying across Kit.

San Diego Mariners
Quebec City Le Blue @ San Diego Mariners Mariners win a grudge match 3-1
Saint Croix Falls Lumberjacks @ San Diego Mariners 2 Goals from Simmer pace the Mariners 7-3
Weekly Summary: Nice 2-0 home stand for the Mariners

Brooklyn Harbor Rats @ Chicago Underground It’s like kissing your sister when you play to a 7-7 Tie. Pierre Mondou has 3 Assists for Chicago. Dennis Hextall receives 10 minutes in penalties & a game Misconduct for the Underground.
Weekly Summary: Chicago gets 1 point out of a possible 6 at home this week. They Stink!

CapJack Rangers
Weekly Preview: CapJack hosts Norris leader Syracuse and Philadelphia. Management got a tough notice however, league leading defenseman Larry Robinson was going to miss the two games, oh-oh, he’s been averaging better than an assist a game, and the last few weeks, he’s actually been scoring some goals. And he stops a ton of them.
Syracuse Bulldogs @ CapJack Rangers Rangers trying to prove themselves and now is a good time to do it. Shutt gets the scoring going with the only goal of the 1st period. Not bad since the Bulldogs were carrying the play into the Ranger end a lot and outshooting them 14-10. 2nd period their attacking begins to pay off as Boldirev ties it midway throug the period. But a minute and a half later Trottier gives the Rangers a 2-1 lead. Then 2+ minutes later he scores again to give CapJack the 3-1 lead. But Smyl steals the puck and gets one back 3 minutes later and period 2 ends 3-2 CapJack.
3rd PERIOD – Gare gets CapJack back up by 2 7 minutes in. But then the Bulldogs wake up again and Johstone and Fraser score goals to tie it up at 4-4. Goalies weren’t a factor up to now at least. With 2 1/2 to go, Danny Gare gets his 2nd goal (Trottier gets his 3rd assist and 5th point) and the Rangers are back up 5-4. Vachon is pulled for the final 1:12 and inspite of a relentless attack, Bouchard now holds firm and the Rangers (sans Robinson) win the game 5-4.
Bulldogs way outshot the Rangers 37-22 but the Rangers won the chances match 21-19.

Vermont Foresters
Weekly Preview: 3 home games this week as vermont tries to continue their strong play with chicago, st croix, and syracuse come to ben and jerrys.
Chicago Underground @ Vermont Foresters vermont faces last place chicago with ron grahame in net, well, because we have to play him a few more times. dale hoganson score on vermonts first shot 1:43 into the game to give vermont the lead. the period ends with the 1-0 score and was pretty evenly played. 50 seconds into the 2nd period chicagos mike bossy evens the score. at 12:21 of the period, with chicagos ric seiling off on a double minor for cross checking butch goring makes vermont wonder about the ron grahame strategy scoring a shorthanded goal giving the visitors the lead 2-1. craig ramsey evens the score with less than 2 minutes left in the period though on a nice feed from rich preston. the first 2 periods were pretty even but the 3rd period was rather wild and lopsided. 3 powerplay goals and a 23-7 shots on goal edge make a final score of 6-3 with the home team on top. pat price and dale mccourt score ppg 4 minutes apart. pierre mondou scored trying to keep the underground in the game but mark howe scored on the powerplay with less then 2 minutes to go and bob murray added an empty net goal for the final score. bob murray had a goal and 2 assists and kent nilsson had 3 assists.
Saint Croix Falls Lumberjacks @ Vermont Foresters the leagues top 2 teams square off in vermont and every was expecting a close tight game. vermont won the 1st 2 meetings 3-0 and 2-1. glen hanlon was between the pipes facing billy smith for the lumberjacks. 20 seconds into the game rich preston scored to but the foresters ahead. 15 seconds later dale mccourt made it 2-0 on vermonts first 2 shots. steve payne scored on the powerplay to cut the lead in half but 15 seconds later mark howe made it a 2 goal lead again. the 1st period saw st croix outshoot vermont 13-9 but trail 3-1. the 2nd period saw a bunch of penalties, a short 5 on 3 for the lumberjacks but very few shots and no scoring. the 3rd period saw for foresters stand up and run the lumberjacks out of the building with 2 ppg, 4 goals total and a hat trick for dale mccourt and a 7-1 final. mark howe had a goal and 2 assists and glen hanlon turned away 28 of 29 shots. the lumberjacks still havent been able to cut down the foresters.
Syracuse Bulldogs @ Vermont Foresters another 1st place team comes up north trying to topple the foresters. 3rd game, 3rd goalie for vermont as mike veisor will guard the net. syracuse keeps vermont from scoring on their 1st shot like the previous two games and the 1st period is scoreless until 18:35 when dale mccourt scores his 5th of the week. vermont held a 17-10 shot edge and a 1-0 lead. tim young evened the score 8:52 into the second but the tie didnt last long as 17 seconds later mike foligno put vermont back on top and just a minute 17 seconds later dale mccourt netted his 6th goal in vermonts 3 home games. mark howe added a ppg 5 minutes later and the period ended 4-1 vermont despite being outshot 10-8. the 3rd period saw more even play and a late goal by pierre larouche for a final score of 4-2 in favor of vermont.
Weekly Summary: dale mccourt has 6 goals and an assist leading vermont to 3 more home wins and don luce, rich preston and craig ramsey frustrate the other teams top lines as vermont only allows 6 goals.
