Philadelphia Firebirds @ CapJack Rangers Home stand starts with a fiery game against Philadelphia. The only difference in the game was in the 2nd were the Rangers get 2 goals to the Firebirds 1. They matched goals in period 1 (1 each) and period 3 (3 each)! Cloutier started it with an unassisted power play goal at 7:44, but Maruk tied it up a couple of minutes later. Cloutier then scored his 2nd goal of the game very early in the 2nd, but Roberts ties it up less than 3 minutes later. Gare then starts his scoring binge for the week just past the halfway point in the game for 3-2 CapJack lead.
Then the 3rd period starts. Barnes went off the ice with just over a minute left in the 2nd so the Firebirds began the 3rd on the PP – and Carlye converts 34 seconds into the period to tie it up. 30 SECONDS later Lee scores to put the Firebirds up 4-3. A minute later Shutt scores to tie it. Then the game settles down for 4 and a half minutes before Secord puts one in the net for a 5-4 Philly lead. 2 minutes later Gare gets his 2nd to tie it up again. Then with just under 3 to go, Murdoch finds the back of the net for a 6-5 lead and the Rangers withstand a minute and a half of the extra attacker to win the game 6-5.

2. CAP – Cloutier 2 goals
3. PHI – Carlyle 1 goal, 1 assist

Quebec City Le Blue @ CapJack Rangers The Le Blue make their first trip to visit the Rangers and the Rangers were feeling le Blue when it was over. Gare opened the scoring for the game and the Rangers – but he only puts one in the net and that’s the difference in the game. Wensink ties it up in the last 2 minutes of the 1st. Then Shutt gets an unassisted PP goal 2 minutes into period 2, Goulet and LeDuc then pop in two for a 3-2 lead. But Shutt gets his 2nd of the game to tie it before the 2nd buzzer. Then Sedlbauer gets the Rangers a 4-3 lead after 3 in the 3rd, but Weir decides to take things into his own hands (or stick) when he converts not one, but two PPs into goals and Le Blue is le victor, 5-4.

Then he gets 3 more in the 2nd period, oh and Trottier gets 2 goals and for good measure Murdoch puts one in. Gare’s 4th goal actually came shortly into the 3rd but the Rangers scored 7 times after those 2 Harbor Rats tallys. Then Gustafsson finished the scoring getting one for Brooklyn in the 3rd. Weekly Preview: 3 home games for the Moose (3-8-1) this week. Silk City (2-9-1) Saskatoon (6-4-2) and Quebec City (5-4-3) all take the ferry out to the island this week for some fun. The Moose got 5 points last week and the pressure on the team is a little less intense.
Silk City Whales @ Mackinac Island Moose The Moose set a team record for quickest goal as Lysiak wins the opening face-off and then races in front of the goal for a deflection of a Ferguson shot to light the lamp only 13 seconds into the game. The Whales tie it up 8 minutes later as Brasar from Houston on a 2 man rush is successful. First period ends 1-1. 2nd period is controlled by the defense until just under 2 minutes left when the Moose 4th line runs a nifty play and Hislop to Boutette to Jensen who nails a one-timer for a 2-1 lead. And before the clock hits zero, the Moose get a Larson to Barber play and Barber makes it 3-1 at the break. The 3rd period is quiet until late when the Moose strike again, Larson to Ferguson and a slapshot to make it 4-1 Moose. Hoping for a 5th goal and free fudge at the Rocky and Bullwinkle Fudge Shoppe, the fans chant Fudge! Quebec City Le Blue @ Mackinac Island Moose Special appearance by Dudley Do-Right and Nell Fenwick who sang the Canadian National Anthem in pre-game ceremonies. Apparenly inspired, the Le Blue start the scoring early, 4 minutes in, on a Milbury to Weir to Howe goal. The rest of the first period is defensive, and ends 1-0 Quebec. About 7 minutes into the 2nd, with Quebec on a powerplay, McKechnie nails Dunn and speeds off to beat Esposito for a nifty shorty and a 1-1 tie. About 2 minutes later with Le Blue on another power play, Milbury gets picked by Sheppard who takes off with McKechnie, who returns the puck to Sheppard who pops it in for another shorty and a 2-1 Moose lead. As the penalty expires the Moose move the puck into the zone and Lever converts the opportunity to make it 3 goals in 5 minutes for the home team. After that burst of activity, all goes quiet and the period ends 3-1 Moose. Early in the 3rd Le Blue get another powerplay and a nervous crew works the puck around, this time keeping control with Ratelle getting a wraparound to work and cut the lead to 1. But before echoes die, the Moose win the faceoff and rush into the zone, 3 quick passes and a one-timer by Sjoberg catches Esposito off guard to make the Moose lead 2, at 4-2. With fans periodically chanting for Fudge, both teams play spirited the final 14 minutes, but no more goals are had.
