Brooklyn Harbor Rats
Weekly Preview: Rats trying to piece together some wins and pull away from playing .500 hockey play host to Charlestown and Syracuse this week.
Charlestown Chiefs @ Brooklyn Harbor Rats Doug Hicks slapper with 2:01 left snaps a 2-2 tie and leads the Rats to victory. Mike Palmateer makes 31 saves for Brooklyn and Bobby Smith goes 1-1-2. The teams traded a pair of first period goals apiece then nobody could score for the next 43 minutes of the contest before Hicks game winner.
Syracuse Bulldogs @ Brooklyn Harbor Rats Mike Gartner’s goal (his 3rd of the game) with 1:38 remaining snaps a tie to steal a win for Brooklyn. The Harbor Rats had opened a 4-1 lead (off 3 power play scores) to begin the final period, but the Bulldogs came roaring back with 3 goals (the last two from Brian Propp) in the 3rd period to even the score with 7:38 left.
Weekly Summary: Gartner scores the second hat trick for the Harbor Rats this season as Brooklyn takes both home contests with late goals.

Weekly Preview: Philly comes into the week struggling having gone 3-8-0 losing 7 games by one goal

St. Clair Shores Saints @ CapJack Rangers Rangers start early (2 minutes into the game) and score the first 5 goals of the game. Shutt gets 2, Trottier 1 and 3 assists. With 9 to go in the game, Malone gets 1 for the Saints, Duguay gets another but the final is 5-2 CapJack.

Biloxi Blades @ CapJack Rangers There’s more in common to these two teams than meets the eye and when the 60 minutes were up, the score was all tied up 3-3. Biloxi scored 1st, Maloney at 14 minutes in. Douglas ties it with 1 to go in the 1st. Then MacMillian (CAP) and Hunter traded goals in the 2nd. To keep up the commonality, Shutt (CAP) and Pronovost did the matching goals in the 3rd. But both of those scores came with just under 2 minutes to go (and 32 seconds apart). Pretty much everything was even across the board.

Weekly Preview: vermont hosts brooklyn and mackinac island this week
Brooklyn Harbor Rats @ Vermont Foresters a wild game at ben and jerrys between the harbor rats and foresters as the home team scores 5 1st period goals and led 5-2 until late in the 2nd when they gave up 2 goals in the final 90 seconds of the period and then brooklyn tied the game at 5 just 3:10 into the 3rd and it stayed that way until the home team scored with 5:16 to go for a 6-5 lead and added an empty netter for the 7-5 final. craig ramsey scored the 1st goal 17 seconds into the game and the last goal in the empty net with 29 seconds left, he also had an assist for a 3 point night. mark howe had 4 assists and bob murray, mike foligno, kent nilsson and morris lukowich each had a goal and assist. the rats got goals from valiquette, martin, gartner, gustafsson and miller and hickey and mahovlich had 2 assists each. overall an evenly played wild momentum swinging game.
Mackinac Island Moose @ Vermont Foresters vermont came into the weeks second game against the moose full of confidence and played like they won the game before taking the ice. mackinac island made the foresters pay for that. after a scoreless first period vermont’s dale mccourt scored on a powerplay 6:19 into the 2nd. ferguson evened the score with a goal with just 1:19 left in the period though. ron stackhouse put the home team up again with another pp goal 3:25 into the 3rd. jensen tied the game at 2 with a pp goal at the 9:23 mark and just over 5 minutes later zanussi scored to give the hardworking moose a 3-2 lead. with 2:13 leaft in the game dunlop tallied another ppg for the final score of 4-2. gilles meloche made 27 saves for the victorious visitors and left much disappointment for the home crowd that expected a better result
Weekly Summary: a very disappointing split despite 5 assists by mark howe in the 2 games as the foresters top line of nilsson, leach and lukowich were held scoreless in the loss to the last place moose.

Mackinac Island Moose
Philadelphia Firebirds @ Mackinac Island Moose Moose 4, Firebirds 1 – Defense finally shows up for the Moose. Bridgman gets the first goal for the visitors, but after that its all Moose, and a lot of wrestling with 10 roughing penalties. For the Moose its Napier with 2, Lever and Barber.
