Each period saw 1 team score at least 3 goals, but it was holding the Moose to only 1 goal in the 3rd period that turned the tied.
\nPeriod 1 – Rangers get 4 to the Moose’s 2. Lemay started it for Mackinac Island, the Rangers get 3 straight including 2 from Shutt. Propp adds one for the Island boys.Period 2 – After getting a PP goal from Robinson in the 1st, the Rangers start off the 2nd with another opportunity and Trottier scores for his 2nd of the game. But then Napier and Propp (PP) score for Mackinac Island and it’s now a 5-4 game in favor of Rangers. BUT, we’re not done. Cloutier puts one past Melanson (in relief and he’s given up 2 of the goals already) for a 6-4 lead. But Smyl scores a PP goal with a minute left making it 6-5 CapJack as period 2 ends.PERIOD 3 – Crowder opens the 3rd with a charging penalty and Engbloom makes the Rangers pay. He scores a PP goal and the game is now tied with 19 minutes to go. Shutt however, is not having any of that tie stuff as he scores less than 2 minutes later (his 3rd of the game) and the Rangers retake the lead 7-6 and amazingly never look back or let anymore Meece score a goal. And Trottier and Leinonen add goals for the good guys to run the final to 9-6 Rangers!

Wonder what would have happened if Charlestown wasn’t so good on the penalty kill – they killed of 6 of 7! (and they scored on 2 of 3 of their own)<\/p>\n Period 1 – Charlestown grabs a 2-1 scoring 2 power-play goals – McKegney and Gradin after Mike Allison opened the scoring 6 minutes in.<\/p>\n Period 2 – Trottier ties the game 16 seconds in. Then the team’s trade the next 5 goals with Murphy, Coffey, and Coffey (again) scoring for the Chiefs and DeBlois and Trottier (again) scoring for the Rangers. McKegney(again) breaks the pattern scoring for Charlestown giving them a 6-4 lead with 4 1\/2 to go in the 2nd. So the Rangers go for the 2 straight goals to end the period with Crowder and Maloney chipping in and after the 9 goals 2nd period, the score stands 6-6.<\/p>\n 3rd Period – Hlinka & the Chiefs break the tie 3 minutes in when he redirects one past Resch. At this point the fans were wondering if there was someone else in Chico’s uniform, he certainly wasn’t stopping much. But after lifting himself off the ice, he looked at his teammates and said – OK, let’s start playing good old-time Rangers hockey. And that woke up the squad. Russel scores 2 minutes later to tie the game. Then Ray Allison puts one in with 7 to go for the lead and Wamsley comes in as Riggin goes out. And a minute later Neufeld scores making it 9-7 Rangers with 6 to go. Charlestown doesn’t give up and they pull Wamsley (neither team should have had a goalie playing in this game anyway). And with 58 seconds left Gardner scores to make it 9-8 Rangers! Are you kidding me? The final minute sees lots of action in the Ranger’s end and Russell blocks two and Resch saves two and the final buzzer sounds and the Rangers hang on for the 9-8 win! Whew (another 9 goal game and they are sweating bullets to garner the win).

\nBulldogs score 1st when Patey gets an early goal (less than 2 minutes in). Neufeld and Robinson (PP) respond for CapJack and it’s 2-1 Rangers after 1.Then Broten scores a PP goal for Syracuse a minute into the 2nd but the Rangers defense holds them scoreless the rest of the period and Lundholm, Ray Allison, and Leinonen score 3 for the Rangers for a 5-2 lead after 2.Syracuse again gets the first goal of a period when Turnbull steals the puck while shorthanded and beats Resch to make it 5-3 with 7 1\/2 to go. But then the Bulldogs’Mullen gets a 4 minute high sticking penalty with 4 to go and the Rangers pounce scoring 2 PP goals – Cochrane and Russell for a nice 7-3 lead. Larson does get one for Syracuse with 8 seconds left, but the final score of 7-4 favors the Rangers!

Rangers looking to CAP off a really good week with another win and they start out HOT! North Carolina ends up giving the Rangers 7 power plays, those 3 were the only ones we scored on. But I finally figured out how to be effective against the power play – don’t let your guys take penalties!! (heck we are the 5th highest PIM\/Game team in the league – I need to figure this out). Apparently, Korn and Ruskowski had an old grudge to resolve as they drop gloves after only one minute of play and get 5 minutes each. Tambellini gets the only goal a few minutes later. Texas kills 3 penalties and the Moose kill 1.. 1-0 after 1 period.<\/p>\n Second-period things get rolling. MacLean with a trip allows Texas a powerplay and its Poddubny scoring in a flurry of shots and rebounds. A few minutes later the Moose get the lead back when Terrion gets a rare score. 5 minutes later the Moose let their guard down, and McKechnie ties the game at 2. That lead lasts for 26 seconds until Kurri scores. Things settle down and the period ends 3-2 Moose.<\/p>\n 3rd period Texas puts the heat on with 15 SOG. All that in spite of having to kill 2 penalties. But Melanson stops them all, and Dunlop adds in insurance goal early to let the Moose escape with a 4-2 win.<\/p>\n 1st star – Kurri 1G 2pts

Dallas outshot Charlotte 14-8 in the first when the game was decided.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n | \n| Mackinac Island Moose @ Charlotte Dynamo<\/span><\/th>\n | The lone Charlotte highlight in this game was a goal by Pete Ihnacak three minutes in — following that minor blip this entire game was dominated by the Mackinac Island Moose who pummelled the Dynamo and Tony Esposito into submission 7-2. Mackinac Island outscored Charlotte 4-2 in the first period and only allowed 11 shots on goal the rest of the way. Esposito was dreadful allowing 7 goals while saving just 13, as 7 different Moose players found the net.<\/p>\n Three Stars (all from Mackinac Island):
