An O’Connell take-down gives Stastny a penalty shot, which is saved by Staniowski. Off to intermission 2-1 Brooklyn.<\/p>\n 2nd period – Moose kill off a minor. Then MacLean and Hospodar have a real doozy of a fight. Brookly then gets a bit sloppy and commits 3 minors in the last half of the period. In between PK events, the Moose get an ES score from Cote to tie it at 2 as we head off to break.<\/p>\n 3rd period – Before the Rats can kill off a carry-over penalty from the 2nd, Quinn finds an opening to make it 3-2 Moose. Brooklyn kills off one more minor before a fight between Campbell and Hospodar makes it 4 on 4. The Moose take advantage of the open ice to get a goal from Terrion, and now we have it 4-2 Moose. 3 minutes later it’s Rogers with a goal for the Moose, and the Moose now has 5 unanswered goals. Late in the period, the Ducks get on the board twice, with goals by Osborne and Middleton. 2-1 at the break.<\/p>\n 2nd period – The fighting dies down and hockey takes hold. the Ducks open the door for the Moose with a McCrimmon penalty and they walk on in, Quinn with the tying goal. Ducks kill 2 others, Moose kill one, and we go to break tied 2-2.<\/p>\n 3rd period – Tight play continues and the Ducks break the tie on a goal from Williams at the 5-minute mark. The Ducks continue to frustrate the Moose and it pays off late in the period with a mistake by the Moose, and the Ducks take a big 2 goal lead, Osborne scores, with 3 minutes to go. Moose goes for broke, pulling the goalie, and it pays off on the zone entry with Beers going top shelf. and the lead is cut to 1 at 4-3. 50 seconds to go. Moose wins the faceoff, but the first shot is saved, Ducks are in control but Giles knocks him off the puck, then some patient passing by the Moose gets the puck to Kurri and he drills one in with only 12 seconds left. Overtime<\/p>\n Both teams get chances to score in OT. After a few exchanges, it’s a MacLean deflection off a Kurri shot that brings it all to an end, 5-4 Moose.<\/p>\n 1st star – Beers 2G

CHARLOTTE DYNAMO<\/span><\/th>\n | The game typified the Dynamo’s season chock-full of close defeats: for all intents and purposes, it was yet another loss by a singular goal as a rally effort fell short and the Bulldogs poked in a late empty-net goal to take a 4-2 victory.<\/p>\n An early Bulldogs attack doomed the Dynamo: Syracuse grabbed a 3-0 lead by the 8:37 mark of the second period, courtesy of goals from Cam Neely, Guy LaFleur, and Pierre Larouche. Syracuse attempted just 14 shots in the first two periods but converted three of them against hapless Charlotte goalie Allan Bester.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, the Dynamo blasted away with 40 shots at a sensational Matt Millen (Syracuse, by contrast, finished with just 19 SOG) — and only found the net twice. A late second-period goal on the power play by Charlotte’s Dave Poulin, followed by a shorthanded goal from Glenn Anderson early in the third (both were unassisted), had narrowed the deficit to 3-2 but John Tonelli salted the game away with a Syracuse empty netter with 47 ticks left.<\/p>\n Charlotte dominated in the faceoff circle winning 49 of 40 faceoffs (59 percent), to no avail.
