But Wickenheiser ties it up halfway through the 1st, but Preston scores a SH goal for the Chiefs and they head to the locker room up 2-1. Silk gets a PP goal near the middle of the 2nd period to tie it up, but Kisio gets his 2nd 3 minutes later and Charlestown grabs a 3-2 lead. But with 16 seconds left in the 2nd, Trottier scores to tie it up, and from then on it was the Rangers game. The teams traded 10 SOG in the 3rd, but it was Robinson and Kromm getting Rangers goals in the 1st 10 minutes and CapJack’s defense holds on shutting down the Chiefs in the 3rd for the 5-3 win.STARS

\nCapJack 7 Michigan 6Turgeon gets the scoring started 6 minutes into the game when the Stags take advantage of a Rangers penalty and get the PP goal. But the Rangers’ Neufeld puts 2 in the Stags goal and CapJack skates off with a 2-1 lead after 1. Then Bullard liked what Neufeld did and he scores 2 straight goals in the 2nd and flips the lead back to Michigan 3-2. But then Crowder and DeBlois score a couple of minutes apart shortly thereafter and the Rangers regain the lead 4-3. But Arniel goes off for boarding late in the 2nd and Bullard and the Stags take advantage with a PP goal and the 2nd ends 4-4! That’s a hat trick for Bullard.3rd period starts with a flurry and Crowder scores 41 seconds in to give the Rangers the 5-4 lead. Less than 5 minutes later Messier scores for Michigan to tie it up. Then Neufeld gets the hat trick midway into the period and the Rangers are back on top 6-5. But the Stags don’t quit and Patterson scores with 7 minutes to go. So it’s 6-6 but suddenly the teams go 7 minutes with no goals and regulation ends 6-6!So, off to OT and the Rangers pull it out when the Rangers take full control. Crowder gets the SC, but Fuhr makes the save then when the Stags were trying to clear Crowder takes it away and steers it in deep, Trottier recovers the puck, shoots, and beats Fuhr glove side for the game-winner, 7-6 CAP!

CAPJACK RANGERS<\/span><\/th>\n | Hosting a division foe – seeking more separation, the Rangers break down during the stretch – OR the DYNAMO came to full life, and Charlotte pulls it out 5-4 with 2 late, late goals. That’s something the Rangers have been working to stop, and lately, they have, but not today.
\nCharlotte 5 CapJack 4Teams skate to a 1-1 tie after 1. Boschman (CHD) gets the opening goal and Cameron (CAP) ties it up just past midway. Then the game goes 26+ minutes with no other scoring until Anderson draws a 2-minute penalty for Charlotte and Silk and the Rangers take advantage for the goal ahead PP goal with less than 2 minutes to play in the 2nd. However, the Rangers couldn’t take the 2-1 lead into the locker room as Bruce Crowder flies a slap shot high over the stick of Resch for the tying goal as the 2nd ends. Then the Rangers take the lead 41 seconds into the 3rd when Wickenheiser scores. But 3 minutes later Charlie Simmer (one of my all-time favorites) beats Resch with the tying goal. So the two teams go after each other trying to get that next goal and Charlotte looks set to get it when the Rangers Keith Crowder goes off for 2 minutes. However, it’s the Rangers Moe Mantha who scores (SH) and the Rangers get the 4-3 lead! Now just hold them off. Didn’t happen – Boschman reties the game with 4 1.\/2 to go and Howerchuk gets the Dynamo the 5-4 lead with a minute and a half to go. And then Moog the Dynamo hold off the last Rangers charge and win it, 5-4. And except for blocked shots, the Ranger took every stat EXCEPT the one that counts, the score.STARS – ALL CHD

NEW CASTLE DUCKS<\/span><\/th>\n | AND 4 NCD 1<\/p>\n Andes maybe last in their division but they seem to have the Ducks number this year, as they beat New Castle for the second time this season. The story of this game was Al Jensen who was nothing short of sensational in goal for Andes. In the first period, the Ducks were FLYING and QUACKING as they outshot Andes 24-5! Jensen turned away shot after shot and it was not until 18:50 of the period that the Ducks finally scored, when Tony Currie put it past Jensen. The game turned around at the start of the second period when Ducks defenseman Harold Snepts drew a 5-minute major for cross-checking. Andes took advantage with TEN shots on goal and TWO goals as Doug Gilmour and Michel Goulet put the puck past Don Edwards, to give Andes a 2-1 lead. Later in the period, Rick Fox scored to make it 3-1 and Robert Picard’s third-period goal completed the scoring.<\/p>\n THREE STARS:

NEW CASTLE DUCKS<\/span><\/th>\n | The Sasquatch visits the Duck Pond with a nearly identical record to the Ducks. New Castle strikes first at 3:25 when Bobby Clarke scored. But Clarke, who missed most of the Andes game with an injury, left this one as well – this time with an injury to his finger. He would not return and it was all downhill for the Ducks. Portland scored three in the first period (McBain, Perrault and Fogolin) to take a 3-1 lead. Mike Foligno made it 4-1 in the second before Pat Boutette made it 4-2 midway through the second period. The Ducks pressed in the third, in an effort to tie it, but the Sasquatch forechecking held them to only 5 SOG as The Great One, Wayne Gretzky, added an empty netter as time ran out. Carbonneau and Giles have a little fight. Quinn uses the open ice of 4 on 4 to cut the lead to 1. Carbonneau 2 minutes later with a goal of his own to push the lead back up to 2. Late in the period, Maruk adds one more to make it 4-3, Sasquatch, at the break.<\/p>\n 3rd period – Kurri with his 2nd goal, early, less than 2 minutes in, and the Moose have tied the game at 4. Both teams killed off one minor on the way to the 4-minute mark. Then Kurri finishes the hat trick to complete the comeback and take the lead at 5-4. Portland takes no time answering that goal with Ciccarelli knocking one in. 5-5 with under 3 to go. Both teams with shots to win, and then it was Kurri, with only 15 seconds to go, with the game-winner, and a bonus to his hat-trick. Then a Quinn penalty puts the Brahmas on the PP and they are very happy to make it count with a goal from Andreychuk. 2-0 just before the halfway point. Texas kills off one minor late, and then Taylor and Terrion with a minor scuffle. 2-0 Texas at the first break.<\/p>\n 2nd period – Moose still looking sluggish as Poddubny scores early, and the visitors are up 3-0. Beers get the Moose on the board a few minutes later, 3-1. Texas and the Moose each kill off a minor as the 2nd-period winds down. A little fight between Korn and Files. Finally Rogers with a goal to make it 3-2 Texas at the 2nd break.<\/p>\n 3rd period – A double minor by Taylor gives the Moose 4 minutes of PP, and it takes nearly all of that before they can get some offense organized. Finally, Propp got his PP goal, tying the game at 3. And just for good measure, Propp adds another just 2 minutes later, and the Moose have taken the lead 4-3 with 11 minutes to go. Taylor atones for his penalty just a minute later, and we are tied at 4 with just over 10 minutes to go. The Moose kill off one minor on the way to the final horn. Finally a name I feel we will hear a lot in the future, Steve Yzerman scores for the Legends, and it’s 2-1. Gradin and MacLean with minors staggered 14 seconds apart gives us some 4 on 4 play. Moose like it apparently, and score 2 goals in the final 2 minutes of the period, Beers and Propp, to make it 4-1 Moose at the first break.<\/p>\n 2nd period – Ohio kills off an early minor. Tanti cuts the lead to 2 midway through the period. Quinn answers for the Moose 5 minutes later to make it 5-2. Yzerman and Ruskowski in a little skirmish. A Terrion minor penalty sets up a PP goal just 21 seconds later by Gradin. Finally, 10 minutes of not much, ending with a minor fight between Beers and Carlyle.
