CAPJACK RANGERS<\/span><\/th>\n | 1 minute in, Crowder scores for the Rangers assisted by new teammate Haworth. Then 10 minutes later Derlago ties it up with his 2nd goal of the season and that was it for the 1st.<\/p>\n Then the Rangers score 2 goals in the middle of the 2nd – Arniel assisted by Crowder and again Haworth! Deblois gets the next goal and one of the assists came from Sittler. 3 goals so far and a newcomer has factored in all 3! But 25 seconds after the DeBlois goal – former Ranger Moe Mantha strikes scoring his 7th of the season (1st for Pittsburgh – boy he was tough to give up) and it’s 3-2 CapJack after 2 periods.<\/p>\n But Pittsburgh wasn’t finished – 9 minutes into the 3rd, Sleigher beats Resch (with an assist from Mantha) to tie the game. 2 minutes later Larmer scores, and with 3 unanswered goals, the Spirit have the 4-3 lead! This is not following the script. It doesn’t get any better as we moved to the final 2 minutes. Finally with 1:17 left Resch is able to leave and suddenly the ice is filled with a bunch of former Spirit players in the purple and gold of the Rangers. Pettersson, Sittler, DeBlois, they all take their cracks at Wamsley, but no dice. Finally, Sittler shoots and Wamsley makes the glove save with 18 seconds to go. Faceoff in the Pittsburgh end, Rangers gain control – DeBlois, toe Pettersson to Sittler – shoots – GOAL! The game is tied with 10 seconds left. Now that’s a script!<\/p>\n So we go to OT – back and forth, Pettersson and Haworth trying to beat their old team and Daoust (already with an assist) trying to beat his old team, but Wamsley and Resch are stopping things and bodies are diving all over the ice. Then as the final minute approaches and the Rangers have iced the puck a faceoff in the Rangers end. Derlago has it, but Pettersson shoves him into the boards – he gets it, over to Korab and the Rangers work it out with a fresh line. Suave to Silk, to Ludzik – back to Silk, he shoots and beats Wamsley glove side for the winning GOAL! (52 seconds left in the game).. Rangers take it 5-4! Teams were even in shots (33), hits 17\/18, scoring changes 26\/27 and the Rangers swamped them in FO (58% to 41%) but it all boiled down to which goalie could hold on in OT.

Snepsts had been paired with Dennis Potvin on the Ducks #1 defense so the move will cause a shakeup on the backline. However, New Castle is trailing in the playoff hunt and hopes that Bouchard will be an upgrade over Don Edwards as the Ducks #2 goalie<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n | \n| GAME #1 – VISITING TEAM:<\/span><\/th>\n | Michigan Stags<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n | \n| GAME #1: MICHIGAN STAGS VS. Bouchard was shaky throughout but tightened up in the clutch in the third period when he stopped 12 of 13 shots to come away with a 5-4 victory for the Ducks<\/p>\n After Ogrodnick’s goal, New Castle tied it on a goal by Ryan Walter. After Butch Goring made it 2-1 Stags, Tony Currie continued his fine play with his third score of the year to tie it at 2-2, after one period.
\nIn the second period, Bob Carpenter scored at 1:18 and Michigan led once again, 3-2. Mark Osborne tied it a little over a minute later and the teams went to the locker room after two periods, tied at 3-3. In the third period, it was up and down action and it was Currie who lit the lamp for the second time to put New Castle ahead 4-3 at the 4:22 mark. 5 1\/2 minutes later Currie got the HAT TRICK, beating Ron Low and getting a big insurance goal. It would prove to be the game-winner when Gardner scored at 16:17 to make it 5-4. The Stags pulled the goalie and stormed the New Castle net in the final two minutes but Bouchard made save after save to come away with the victory.<\/p>\n THREE STARS:

A Rogers goal early followed by a PK effort nets a shortie for Ruskowski, and the Moose are up 2-0 less than 7 minutes in. Moose kill off another minor at the halfway mark. A skirmish between McCarthy and Campbell (must be in a bad mood today) followed by a Francis penalty creates some 4 on 3 action. And the Saints apparently like the open ice, as Wilson runs away with a steal and gets him a shortie too. 2-1 now. Shortly after the ice fills back up, Another Saint minor penalty leads to a PP goal by Kurri. and after the final 4 minutes bleed off the clock, it’s 3-1 Moose at the break.<\/p>\n Francis and Rogers in a skirmish early, and then we got down to some hockey. Francis and Stastny score a minute apart, and it’s tied 3-3 with 14 minutes to go. Kurri answers a minute later to give the Moose the lead. All quiet for 8 minutes, and then it’s Federko making it 4-4 with just over 4 minutes left. Kurri gets his hat-trick with just under 90 seconds to go, 5-4 Moose. Then the Saints pull their goalie and as the clock winds down near 30 seconds, they get a flurry of shots and rebounds, culminating in a goal by Gustafsson. It carried a 7-4 record from December into January as it claws back near .500 (13-17-4). The playoffs remain a longshot with three teams in the Adams division enjoying successful seasons and CapJack in the Patrick winning everything in plain sight — but a first-ever winning record for Charlotte is still within reach and it would be a worthy accomplishment after three prior years of futility. A home game against Pittsburgh this week was to indicate which way this team was headed entering the new year.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n | \n| GAME #1: PITTSBURGH SPIRIT VS. CHARLOTTE DYNAMO<\/span><\/th>\n | The Dynamo always seems to have issues against its pesky division rival from Pittsburgh but this time, capitalized from a balanced attack, getting all of its goals in even-strength fashion from six different players to douse the Spirit 6-4.<\/p>\n Charlotte overcame a hattrick from Pittsburgh center Bill Derlago, who singlehandedly managed to get three of the 27 Spirit shots past winning Charlotte goalie Alan Bester. After a 1-1 tie going into the first intermission (courtesy of a Derlago goal that knotted the score), Charlotte outscored Pittsburgh 4-2 in the second period.<\/p>\n Three defensemen found the net for Charlotte, Thomas Erikkson, Randy Moller, and Joel Quenneville. Coming into the game the trio had only combined for just eight goals, with Erikkson scoring five of those. Charlotte outshot Pittsburgh 35-27.<\/p>\n Three stars:
