| GAME #1: SAINT CLAIR SHORES SAINTS VS. HYANNISPORT PRESIDENTS | This was an extremely chippy affair that featured a bench-clearing brawl, multiple ejections, and 88 total PIM. The Presidents go 0-4 on the power play in the 1st period alone including a nearly full 2-minute 2-man advantage. Hyannisport leads 1-0 after two periods but nature takes its course and the Shores rally to score 2 in the 3rd.
Bernhardt is brilliant in net for Saint Clair turning aside 28 of 29 shots and sealing the win by stonewalling Joe Mullen on a doorstep opportunity with just 3 seconds left |

| GAME #1: HYANNISPORT PRESIDENTS VS. NEW CASTLE DUCKS | NCD 4 HYA 3 OT Hyannisport has struggled this season but they nearly pulled off an upset win on the road against the Ducks. Trailing 3-2 with the clock running down in regulation, HYA’s Brian Bellows beat John Vanbiesbrouck to tie the game with 1:06 remaining. The Ducks came through in OT as Rick Middleton scored his 31st of the year to give New Castle a much-needed win against a division opponent.

| GAME #2: MACKINAC ISLAND MOOSE VS. NEW CASTLE DUCKS | MIM 4 NCD 2 The Moose have the best record in the MWOTHL and they showed the Ducks why in this one. After NCD rallied from a 2-0 deficit to tie the game, the Moose won it with two goals in the third period, both by Peter Zezel who had a hat trick on the afternoon.
THREE STARS: The Ducks were hampered by a first-period injury to Brad McCrimmon who missed the rest of the game, requiring NCD to go with only 5 defensemen |

Texas asserts their authority in the 2nd on goals from Hunter and LaFontaine for a 2-0 lead after 2. Andreychuk makes it 3-0 before Patrick gets his first of the year for Andes to cut it to 3-1 at 18:42 of the 3rd. Sutter nets the EN goal for a 4-1 final.

| GAME #2: CHARLOTTE DYNAMO VS. TEXAS BRAHMAS | Dave Hunter gets things going early, scoring at 1:13 for a 1-TEX lead. Moller evens the score after 1. Andreychuk gets the only goal of the 2nd, a PP goal, for a 2-1 TEX lead after 2. The 3rd remains scoreless until Andreychuk gets an EN goal at 19:42 for a 3-1 Texas win.

| WEEKLY SUMMARY: | Not sure why we decided to start playing defense, but it was timely. Texas still trails Andes for 2nd in the Smythe, but things are getting closer. Texas does lose Tucker for the remainder of the year, so someone will need to step up. |

| GAME #1: SAINT CLAIR SHORES SAINTS VS. CAPJACK RANGERS | If you like Power Plays – this was your game. The Saints had 2 and scored twice. Rangers had 9 – scored 3 times. The Saints didn’t get any other goals, Rangers got 4 other goals including a SH goal which came during a 5-minute major to Crowder (plus a Misconduct). In addition to the PPs – Murry (SCS) and Wickenheiser went off to fighting early in the 2nd and Arniel and Stevens roughed each other up for coincidental minors in the 1st.
While the penalty box caretakers had lots of business, the game saw a Saints PP goal from Stevens to start the scoring 8 1/2 into the 1st. A minute later Trottier gets a PP goal to tie it up. Then Suave (PP) and McNab tally for CapJack to finish off the 1st with a 3-1 lead. Tocchet scores his PP goal 3 minutes into the 2nd (during the Crowder major) and it’s 3-2 but Haworth gets the SH goal 30 seconds later and it’s 4-2 Rangers. Robinson makes it 5-2 with a PP goal midway in the 2nd. Arniel and Kromm get 3rd-period goals – both even strength and the Rangers get a big 7-2 win. With all the penalties, SOGs were low for both sides as were scoring chances. Not sure what the strategies were for either team, but Resch came out with the better goalie stats and 9 different guys score the 9 total goals. |

| GAME #1: CHARLESTOWN CHIEFS VS. PITTSBURGH SPIRIT | The Spirit take a 2-0 lead (Goulet 48, Rogers 27) into the 2nd period before Coffey (26) cuts the lead in half, 2-1. Before the period ends, Goulet (49) gets the 2-goal lead back, 3-1.
Head to the 3rd period, where the goalies should have just sat on the bench… NINE goals scores total! Krushelnyski (41) makes it 3-2, but Goulet (50) completes the HT to make it 4-2! Then the Chiefs rattle off 3 goals rather quickly (less than 4 minutes) with Tremblay (23), Wilson (16), and Coffey (27) to take a 5-4 lead! Goulet (51) continues his torrid pace and ties it 5-5! Then Smail (22) gives them the lead around a minute later, 6-5!! Charlestown would pull Hayward (couldn’t do any worse) but then Rogers (28) puts it in the empty net to make it 7-5 with just 29 seconds left!! Nicholls (35) makes it interesting with 15 seconds left, but that’s where we would end… 7-6 Spirit win!! Star 1 – PIT Goulet 4 G Notables |

We continue our quest for not only a playoff spot, but our 3rd Stanley Cup Championship!! HUGE difference from the first half of the season where it made no sense that we weren’t winning more games. | WEEKLY PREVIEW: | With just 19 games left to play entering this week, the Dynamo appeared to be in the driver’s seat for a playoff spot, but it has coughed up second place in the Patrick division to a surging Pittsburgh Sprit squad that looks unbeatable late in the season (that squad was too good on paper not to wake up). Truth be told, yours truly would settle for Pittsburgh winning this late-season battle if only my beloved Sabres could supplant Pittsburgh in the NHL for the playoffs and break an agonizing 11-year draught (admit it, Chris, you have to be hearing those Blue and Gold footsteps; they’re the footsteps of a younger, hungrier and faster team!). In any event, Charlotte and its transplanted owner had just one home game this week against the aforementioned Spirit – a critical Patrick matchup. |
| GAME #1: PITTSBURGH SPIRIT VS. CHARLOTTE DYNAMO | Charlotte, which started Warren Skorodenski in nets, was determined to make a statement early in this game. That mission was accomplished, as Pittsburgh, plagued with penalty trouble early, yielded three power-play goals in the first 14:36 of the game to dig its way into a 3-0 hole. Dale Hawerchuk opened the scoring 6:47 in, followed up by a Glenn Anderson goal on the extra man at 11:03 and capped by an Anders Hedberg tally at the 14:36 mark. The Dynamo poured salt in the wounds when Dave Poulin got an even-strength goal against beleaguered Spirit goalie Craig Wamsley just 30 seconds after Hedberg’s goal and 15 minutes into the game, the Dynamo led 4-0. Michel Goulet for Pittsburgh and Curt Fraser for Charlotte exchanged goals late in the period and the Dynamo held a 5-1 lead after one.
After a scoreless second, Pittsburgh roared back in the third with three even-strength goals, capped by a score from Bill Derlago with 2:13 to play in regulation, as Skorodenski started to show signs of fatigue. That reduced the margin to 5-4 with plenty of ticks on the clock. This game was not decided until six seconds were left in the third when Charlotte first line left winger Laurie Boschman fired in an empty netter to salvage the 6-4 win for the home team. Skorodenski finished with 39 saves as this game ended just in the nick of time. Pittsburgh more than doubled the Dynamo in shots (43-20) and dominated the last two periods in the losing effort. Three stars (all Charlotte): Notable: Charlotte was three for five on the power play, the difference in this game. Pittsburgh outshot the Dynamo 16-3 in the third, as the home team clung for dear life. Doug Smail and Thomas Steen scored early third-period goals for Pittsburgh that closed the gap to 5-3 and made this a contest. Wamsley saved just 14 while letting in five goals. |
| WEEKLY SUMMARY: | Charlotte which entered the week a point behind Pittsburgh (the Spirit had one additional tie otherwise the records were even), won this key late-season Patrick division battle. This race for the number three playoff spot could come down to the final game of the season (they’re all important). |

| GAME #1: PITTSBURGH SPIRIT VS. ANDES MOUNTAINEERS | The Spirit sits in 2nd place of the Patrick one point in front of Charlotte. The Mountaineers come out on fire and find themselves up 4 – 0 after the first 20 minutes. The next 20 see the home squad add to the lead to make it 5 – 0. The final 20 are a repeat of the previous period with the Mountaineers getting their 6th. This was a great game for the home squad on both sides of the puck as they get the shutout.

In the 2nd period, CapJack evens the game at 2 when Crowder (23) finds the back of the net. Portland’s Foligon (27) scores to give Portland a 3-2 lead after two periods.
In the 3rd Sauve (9) gets a PP goal to tie the game and the Rangers take a 4-3 lead when Barr (22) scores a little over a minute later. Portland continues to fight and gets a game tieing goal from Olcyzk (13) and the game-winner from Tanti at the 6:17 mark. The defense holds strong and Portland gets a 5-4 upset win |
