WEEKLY PREVIEW:	The home squad faces two teams from the Adams Division at home in the Capone Center.
GAME #1: MICHIGAN STAGS VS. CHICAGO UNDERGROUND	Things are good for the Underground in the first 6-Minutes of the 1st period. The team was on a roll, putting 3 in the behind Grant Fuhr before he even knew the game was started. Then things fell apart. Holding that 3-0 lead, the 6-minute mark changed everything as the Stags took control & scored 3 themselves to end the 1st deadlocked at 3 apiece. 2n Period was all Stags, as they netted 3. The teams swapped a pair in the 3rd. It was Michigan’s 2nd Period that won this one for them. John Ogrodnick was the downfall for the Underground as he buried 4 goals himself. The Legends almost doubled up Chicago’s shots on goal 50 to 26. 23 Shots alone for the Underground in the 3rd Period. Bob Froese was unreal & stood on his head turning away 48 of the 50 shots he faced. WEEKLY PREVIEW:	Dallas rolls all the way to northern Michigan for some hockey. 1st place v. 2nd place. Gonna be some good hockey.
GAME #1: DALLAS DRAKES VS. MACKINAC ISLAND MOOSE	Dallas announces they are here to play with a goal just under 4 minutes in. Sundstrom with his 31st. Dallas then opens the door for the Moose with back-to-back minors, and the Moose say thank you very much, with Kurri tying the game at 1 on the 2nd PP. Back-to-back skirmishes lead to a lot of 4 on 4, which the Moose like, and near the end of the 2nd open ice session, Kurri with his 2nd of the game to make it 2-1 Moose. Dallas recovers well and before the period ends, they flip the lead back to their side with goals from Gould and Ludvig. 3-2 Drakes at intermission. Some defensive adjustments help the Moose, who shut the door on Dallas in period 2. First Dallas kills off a minor. Followed by 2 minutes of 4 on 4 which nets zilch. Cote evens the score at 3 with 6 minutes to go. Just minutes later Terrion gets an opening in the crease and scores, now it’s 4-3 Moose. Moose kill off one to finish the period, now 4-3 home team. Beers open up the 3rd with a goal from close in, making it now 5-3. Moose then open the door for the birds, with back-to-back minors, but the PK unit is tough and kills both. Then the game gets ugly, first with a skirmish between Propp and Veitch, for some 4 on 4 which produces nothing. Then a full-blown fill the ice with gloves and sticks, ending with 2 guys from each team sitting for 5. Even the goalies rack up penalty minutes. Moose go super conservative and hold off the Ducks all the way down to the end until Dionne finally scores on a blast with 100 seconds to go. Moose are then able to keep the puck on the other end of the ice until 50 seconds are left. They survive the pulled goalie and are thrilled to get off the ice with the W. 50 penalty minutes handed out. Final Moose 5, Drakes 4 1st star – Kurri 2G 2nd – Terrion 1G 3rd – Beers 1G

New Castle Ducks
WEEKLY PREVIEW:	Three home games for the division-leading Ducks this week: against the other division leader, Mackinac Island, then Charlestown and then conference rival St Clair Shores.
GAME #1: MACKINAC ISLAND MOOSE VS. NEW CASTLE DUCKS	Norris Division-leading New Castle hosts Adams Division-leading Mackinac Island. The Ducks and Moose have met in the playoffs the last two seasons and its looking likely that it will happen again this year. The Ducks draw first blood when the great Barry Pederson notches #33 at 3:31 beating Don Beaupre. The Moose tie it less than 6 minutes later when Mike Rogers scores unassisted on the breakaway. New Castle gets the lead going to intermission when Tiger Williams puts it past Beaupre. 2-1 NCD Ducks outshot the Moose 14-8 in the first period and they continue to dominate at the start of the second period. At 1:12 Lanny McDonald scores his 29th as Pederson gets his league-leading 70th assist! Now 3-1 Ducks. Terry Ruskowski brings the Moose within one as he scores his 3rd of the year at the 11:00 mark and the teams go to the dressing room with the Moose trailing 3-2. NCD with a 26-17 SOG advantage through two. The third period belonged to Mark Osborne. The Ducks rookie, and #1 draft choice, scored twice within 1 minute 14 seconds to ice this one for New Castle. 5-2 the final as NCD outshot MIM 33-24. THREE STARS: 1- NCD – Osborne 2G 2- NCD – Pederson 1G 1 A 3- NCD – Williams 1 G Bobby Clarke won 15 of 19 faceoffs and Pederson won 10 of 11 as NCD won 65.5% of the faceoffs, as they continue to lead the league in that category. The Ducks had 1 power-play goal and successfully killed off all four Moose PP chances.
GAME #2: CHARLESTOWN CHIEFS VS. NEW CASTLE DUCKS	These two teams made three trades earlier this year – with the Ducks acquiring Dennis Potvin, Lanny McDonald, and Dan Bouchard. And it’s Bouchard in the net for New Castle against his old mates. The goalie who went to CHA in the Bouchard trade, Don Edwards, is in net for Charlestown. Things do not start well for Bouchard as his old mates beat him on their first two shots on goal. Paul Coffey gets #27 at 48 seconds and then Kelly Kisio gets his 27th at 1:40 and it’s 2-0 Chiefs. Middleton scores 15 seconds later on the Duck’s first shot on net to make it 2-1. Is either goalie going to be able to make a save? The goalies do settle down and it takes nearly five minutes for the next score – and again it’s the Chiefs lighting the lamp as Shedden beats Bouchard. 3-1 Charlestown. Is there an upset in the making? Once again Rick Middleton answers back – at 18:09 – his second of the game and his 52nd of the year. 3-2. And then with 28 seconds left in the period, Bobby Clarke scores his 19th, assisted by Middleton and the game is tied after a wild first period. The teams traded goals in the second. Pederson (34) gave the Ducks their first lead at 3:04 and it looked like they would take that lead to intermission – until Shedden scored his second of the game (17 on the season) with 46 seconds to go – to tie it at 4-4 after two. Reggie Jackson was Mr. October and Marc Osborne maybe Mr. Third Period – for the second day in a row Osborne got the game-winner in the third period – this time scoring at 3:36 to make it 5-4. And that’s how it stayed through an up and down period until Middleton scored on an empty net to get the hat trick and make the final 6-4. THREE STARS: 1- NCD- Middleton, 3G 2 A, 5 PTS 2- CHA – Shedden 2G 1 A 3 PTS 3- NCD – Pederson 1 G, 2 A, 3 PTS Dennis Potvin had 3 assists for NCD. Pat Boutette of the Ducks had 17 PIM including a fighting major and misconduct.
GAME #3: SAINT CLAIR SHORES SAINTS VS. NEW CASTLE DUCKS	St Clair Shores comes into the game having beaten the Ducks 2 of 3 this year. The Saints still have an outside shot at the playoffs. Lots of bad blood between these two teams as they will combine for 73 PIM in a game marked by four fights. Saints score on their first shot on goal against Dan Bouchard (sound familiar?) at the 44-second mark, as Mark Taylor scores, assisted by Federko and Gustafsson. At 8:32 Markwart beats Bouchard and it’s 2-0 Saints. The Ducks get a power play at 14:37 when Markwart goes off for 2 – but it’s the Saints who score as Jim Nill gets the shorthanded goal, his first goal of the season, and St Clair Shore is off to the races with a 3-0 lead with 4:07 to go in the first period. Just 23 seconds later, Mark Hardy scores for NCD to make it 3-1 after one – but with the momentum now changing. In the second period, the Ducks come out flying and it’s none other than Middleton who scores (#54) at 5:23 to make it 3-2. Then at 9:00 Tony Currie gets his 15th, beating Tom Barraso and tying the game at 3-3. 1:16 later the Ducks break the tie and who else but Mark Osborne – who for the third game in a row scores what might be the game-winner. Assisted by Currie and Hardy, Osborne’s goal makes it 4-3 Ducks with 9:44 to go in the second period. The goal, and the 4-3 lead, stand up throughout the period and the teams go to intermission with the Ducks holding the one-goal lead. In the third period, it is St Clair Shores that come out flying but Bouchard is up to the task. Things are getting really chippy as first Federko and Ryan Walter get fighting majors at 1:29 after Hardy took a shot at Federko’s head! Less than 5 minutes later Mel Bridgman and Pat Boutette drop the gloves and each gets fighting majors. The play is rough and the tensions are high as Barry Pederson gets called for HEAD BUTTING – a FIVE MINUTE MAJOR PENALTY – at 6:37, and what an opportunity for St Clair Shores, still trailing by one goal. The Ducks do a great job killing the five-minute penalty but not quite great enough. With only 29 seconds left in the power play, Markwart gets his second power-play goal of the game (7th goal of the year) and the score is TIED at FOUR-FOUR! Lanny McDonald goes off for two minutes at 12:58 and the Saints get another power play. This one is killed off by the Ducks. SCS outshoots NCD 17-3 in the third period! But there are no more scores and at the end of regulation, it is tied at 4-4. On to Overtime and it’s the Ducks who storm Barraso who turns away the pressure. St Clair Shores takes the puck the other way and Jim Benning’s shot beats Bouchard for the OT GAME WINNER! 5-4 Saints.
WEEKLY SUMMARY:	The Ducks take two of three, with their only loss coming in OT. Another good week for the red hot Ducks as they hold on to first place in the Norris Division.

CapJack Rangers
WEEKLY PREVIEW:	1 home game this week, the team has been in kind of a funk lately, can they get going against the Brahmas?
GAME #1: TEXAS BRAHMAS VS. CAPJACK RANGERS	The game sees 40 minutes in penalties, the Rangers get 5 PPs and the Brahmas get 1 – and the Rangers actually led in the penalty minutes 21 to 19. But theirs were mostly coincidental (including 1 fight and 1 unsportsmanlike conduct). But the Brahmas do score 1 on a delayed penalty – and it was a big goal in the 3rd which put Texas up 3-2 at the time. Rota scored it (his 2nd of the game as he got the opening goal of the game – Short-Handed, Texas was doing at least as well as the Rangers on the PP). In fact, Rota got the SH goal and with PP still going on, Arniel scores a PP goal to tie it up. Andreychuk then scores late in the 1st and Texas skates to the locker room up 2-1. Nobody scores in the 2nd, but Beck ties it up early in the 3rd. So that Rota goal was big and then Lindstrom makes it 4-2 scoring for Texas with just over 3 minutes to go. The final minute is still 4-2, Resch is long gone from the net, and Pettersson scores for CapJack with 11 seconds left to make it 4-3. Miracle on ice? NO, and the Brahmas hang on to win it, 4-3! The game stats work out pretty even (except the important one – the score). 3 Stars all belong to Texas. 3rd Star – Andreychuck with a goal and an assist 2nd Star – Lindstrom with a goal and an assist and 1st Star goes to Rota for his 2 goals!!

WEEKLY PREVIEW:	The Saints host Pittsburgh and Chicago this week.
GAME #1: PITTSBURGH SPIRIT VS. SAINT CLAIR SHORES SAINTS	SCS scores 2 goals and Pittsburgh scores 1 in the 1st period. In the 2nd, Pittsburgh scores 2 to take the lead. But, everything changes in the 3rd as the Saints score 4 goals in the 3rd period including an empty netter by Taylor. SCS 6 Pittsburgh 3 1-Lambert 2-Taylor 3-Gustaffson
GAME #2: CHICAGO UNDERGROUND VS. SAINT CLAIR SHORES SAINTS	This was a high-scoring game. The Saints score 2 in the 1st on Francis and Gustafsson goals. Vaive scores his 28th for Chicago. In the 2nd, the Saints edge the Underground, 3 goals to 2. In the 3rd, both teams score 2. SCS 7 Chicago 5 1-Gustafsson 2-Federko 3-Stastny

Michigan Stags
WEEKLY PREVIEW:	New Castle, leader of the Norris Division, visits Michigan, cellar-dwellers of the Adams Division.
GAME #1: NEW CASTLE DUCKS VS. MICHIGAN STAGS	The Ducks led 3-1 halfway through the contest but goals from Carpenter and Jonsson evened the score after 40 minutes. With OT seemingly imminent, the Ducks’ Dave Shand was assessed a double minor for high-sticking at 18:59 of the third period. Dave Babych sent the Stags’ fans home happy when his howitzer eluded Billy Smith with 41 seconds to go in the period for the GWG. John Ogrodnick scored his 47th into an empty cage to make it a 5-3 win for Michigan.
WEEKLY SUMMARY:	Another win in what has developed into a respectable season for this first-year club.

WEEKLY PREVIEW:	A couple of home games this week as Texas takes on a couple of Patrick Division foes, Charlotte and Brooklyn.
GAME #1: CHARLOTTE DYNAMO VS. TEXAS BRAHMAS	This one is all Charlotte from the get-go. Simmer gets a PP goal at 2:49 into the first, Anderson and Quenneville add to the lead in the second and Hawerchuk gets the EN goal in the third for a 4-0 Charlotte win. 3 Stars (all Charlotte) 1. Beser 27 saves 2. Hawerchuk 1G, 2A 3. Simmer 1G, 1A
GAME #2: BROOKLYN HARBOR RATS VS. TEXAS BRAHMAS	This was a fun one. Obviously embarrassed at the shutout in the prior game, Nilsson scores 2 quick goals and Texas is up 2-0. Housley and Sunderstrom get Brooklyn even before Andreychuk ends the 1st with a goal and a 3-2 Texas lead. Brooklyn ties it on a goal by Berglund 28 seconds into the 2nd and goes up by one on a goal by Sutter. The Texas Sutter, not to be confused with the Brooklyn Sutter, ties it at 4 and Acton gives Texas the lead with 46 seconds left in the 2nd. Once again Brooklyn scores to tie, this time 49 seconds into the 3rd on a goal by Valentine. Nilsson completes the hat trick, giving Texas the 6-5 lead. Less than 2 minutes later Housley once again ties it before Hughes puts Texas up 7-6. Housley completes his hat trick and ties it again, 7-7. Acton gets the game-winner for Texas at the 16:15 mark. Nice 3 on 3 fight towards the end of the game as well. 3 Stars 1. Nilsson (TEX) 3G, 2A 2. Acton (TEX) 2G, 3A 3. Housley (BRO) 3G, 1A
WEEKLY SUMMARY:	A split at home. So many penalties, especially fighting, for Texas this year. Need to pay more attention to the sportsmanship rating next year.

Charlotte Dynamo
WEEKLY PREVIEW:	As the season gets ever-so-closer to completion, the Charlotte Dynamo, dramatically improved from last year’s 24-win squad and on the cusp of its first winning record in four years of play (31-28-5 entering this week), hosted two teams from outside the Patrick division in Michigan and Andes.

CHARLOTTE DYNAMO	Against an impressive Michigan Stags unit (Entering this week it was 30-28-6 in an Adams division where no team possessed a losing record), the Dynamo realized it would need to be ready by the opening faceoff. Instead, Charlotte – winners of 24 of its last 37 entering this week – failed to show up in this contest and for the first time in a while were dominated from beginning to end and never really woke up. The Stags put three of just six total first-period shots past hapless Charlotte goalie Doug Keans and from there waltzed to an easy 5-0 win highlighted by a Mike Bullard hat trick. The rout was immediate as John Ogrodnick (46 goals entering this week), found the back of the net 57 seconds into the game. Less than seven minutes later he had a hand in the goal that put the Stags up 2-0, assisting on a PP goal cashed in by Bullard (who also had 46 goals entering the week). Nick Fotiu added an even-strength goal with 26 seconds left in the opening period for good measure that staked the Stags to the early 3-0 lead. GAME #2: ANDES MOUNTAINEERS VS. CHARLOTTE DYNAMO	In a pivotal Prince of Wales matchup, Charlotte rebounded in its next game at home and solidified its playoff positioning with a 5-2 victory over the Mountaineers (fortunately Dynamo players have displayed more awareness and competence through the season than its less-than savvy ownership, which didn’t realize until just recently that the conference alignment puts it in a driver’s seat for its first-ever playoff position – cluelessness that is perhaps part of the reason it has taken four seasons for management to get this squad competitive: S ). Charlotte, which never trailed, got three-unanswered goals from Dave Poulin, Dave Hunter, and Charlie Simmer in the second period to break a 2-2 tie. Simmer finished with two goals and goalie Alan Bester, who could make an MVP case based on his lights-out play during this late-season surge, shined for Charlotte with 34 saves. WEEKLY PREVIEW:	Two games this week against Ohio and Michigan
GAME #1: OHIO LEGENDS VS. DALLAS DRAKES	a tight game early in the first as teams exchange chances but the Legends jump on board 1-0 on a goal from Ken Linseman. Looking as if it was going to stay 1-0, Terry O’Reilly ties the game right before the first intermission. The game stayed tight-checking until Greg Gilbert deflects a shot from Randy Gregg to give the Drakes the 2-1 into intermission. Tim Kerr tied the game at 2 for the Legends midway through the third but Terry O’Reilly puts home the game-winner for the 3-2 final.
GAME #2: MICHIGAN STAGS VS. DALLAS DRAKES	Greg Gilbert opens the scoring for the Drakes as they go into the first intermission leading 1-0. Almost 3 minutes into the second, Gilbert Delorme nets his first of the year and the Stags tie the game but at the 8-minute mark, Marcell Dionne puts the Drakes back up top 2-1. The stags fought hard and at the 19:52 mark Sylvain Turgeon ties it up to send the game even at the end of two. Dave Babych and Turgeon both score the Stags in the third, but Joey Mullen cuts the game to 4-3 with .57 seconds left…..the Drakes pull their goalie and bomb Grant Fuhr, but Fuhr stands tall and gets the win with the Stags.
