WEEKLY PREVIEW:	Two home games for the Spirit this week.
GAME #1: TEXAS BRAHMAS VS. PITTSBURGH SPIRIT	Goulet (3) and Ashton (1) score as the Spirit are up 2-0. Nilsson (2) and Taylor (5) score to tie it up. Derlago (3) scores on the short-handed breakaway to put the Spirit up 3-2 and that is where it would end as Wamsley would stop 18 of 19 third-period shots!
GAME #2: HYANNISPORT PRESIDENTS VS. PITTSBURGH SPIRIT	Turnbull (3) scores a hat trick and Bullard adds one for the Presidents to give them 4 goals in the game. Skriko (3), Davis (1), Ashton (2), Larouche (2) score to make it 4-4. As the clock ticks down, Rogers (2) scores at 19:19 to make it 5-4 Spirit and they hold on to win!
WEEKLY SUMMARY:	Two home games, two one-goal wins. Great goaltending by Wamsley at home.

Mackinac Island Moose
WEEKLY PREVIEW:	Big battle on the island this week as the 3-1 Mountaineers take on the 2-1-1 Moose. Which is more powerful? antlers or crampons?
GAME #1: ANDES MOUNTAINEERS VS. MACKINAC ISLAND MOOSE	The visitors with a bunch of overaggressive mistakes in the first period. After a short skirmish between Price and Picard, the visitors spend 7 minutes of the 1st period on the PK. The Moose gladly take advantage and get PP goals from Kurri and MacLean. No blood during the brief periods of even-strength play. It’s 2-0 Moose at the first break. A fairly quiet 2nd period is broken up by just one breakaway goal for Andes when Daost goes solo at the 4-minute mark. Goalies combine to stop the other 16 shots, and it’s 2-1 Moose after 2. Gilmour with the equalizer just one minute into the 3rd period, and we once again have an agitated Moose crowd. Lively play ensues, and Maruk breaks the tie with 13 minutes to go, now 3-2 Moose. A Ladouceur minor just seconds later gives Andes a PP chance, but the Moose stop all the shots and we move on 3-2 with 10 minutes to go. Courtnall ties it up at 3 with 7 minutes to go, and it’s nail-biting time again. Both teams now throwing a lot of rubber at the net, but not much getting close as we head in on the last 2 minutes. Finally, Frycer gets an opening close-in and scores to make it 4-3 with 93 seconds to go. Andes pulls the goalie and unfortunately quickly loses control of the puck. Marois with a blast from the blue line and the insurance goal is in with 63 seconds left. Moose hold off the final-minute surge from the Mountaineers and escape with the W. New Castle Ducks
WEEKLY PREVIEW:	The Ducks are off to a surprising 3-1 start. They have two home games this week, against Patrick Division-leading Charlotte and against Conference rival St. Clair Shores
GAME #1: CHARLOTTE DYNAMO VS. NEW CASTLE DUCKS	NCD 3 CHA 2 The Ducks continue their strong start beating a tough Dynamo team. Gary Rissling made his first appearance of the season and made it pay off by scoring the game’s first goal at 5:18 of the first period to give the Ducks a 1-0 lead. Charlotte tied it later in the period on a goal by Poulin and then took the lead later in the period on a SHORT-HANDED GOAL by Anders Hedberg. 2-1 Charlotte after one. In the second, Dave Lewis scored for the Ducks to tie the game. It was still 2-2 in the third period when Mark Johnson scored at the 55-second mark to put the Ducks ahead, 3-2. New Castle dominated the rest of the way, outshooting CHA in the period 12-4 as they held on for the win. GAME #2: SAINT CLAIR SHORES SAINTS VS. NEW CASTLE DUCKS	SCS 5 NCD 4 The much-improved Saints win a wild one. It was all St. Clair Shores through most of the first two periods, as the Saints scored FOUR unanswered goals. Doug Wilson, Troy Murray, and then two goals by Pat Verbeek gave the Saints what looked like an insurmountable lead. But then the Ducks came to life. 1 minute after Verbeek’s second goal, Rick Middleton scored #4 to put the Ducks on the board and the teams went to the locker room after the second period with SCS leading 4-1. In the third period, the Ducks came out flying. At 3:12 Terry Ruskowski scored his first of the year to make it 4-2. The Duck Pond was roaring and quacking now. Chris Nilan quieted the crowd at 9:44 scoring his first and SCS had a big insurance goal to make it 5-2. The Ducks weren’t through as Mark Johnson scored at 14:18 and then Middleton got his second of the night at 16:58, to make it 5-4. The Ducks kept pressing, pulling Vanbiesbrouck with 1:30 to go but Tom Barrasso stood stall in goal for the Saints and the boys from St. Clair Shores held on for an exciting 5-4 win.NCD outshot SCS 39-26 with a huge 20-5 edge in the third period. CapJack Rangers
WEEKLY PREVIEW:	After a tough opening week (1-3) and 1-2 at home, CapJack has 2 home games this week – against New Castle and Portland. It won’t be easy, and it probably won’t be pretty!
GAME #1: NEW CASTLE DUCKS VS. CAPJACK RANGERS	The Rangers always want to mess with the Ducks after their big come-from-behind win in the Stanley Cup two years ago. But the Ducks are again good and off to a hot start. The Ducks quickly take advantage of a power play of 6 minutes and Ruskowski gets his 1st of the year. The period ends that way, but 18 seconds into the 2nd the Rangers get the man advantage with McCrimmon getting flagged for roughing. McNab netted the PP goal, his 4th of the year. Barr then scores the 2nd Rangers goal of the period just before the midpoint of the game, but Middleton (4) evens it up with 1 1/2 to go in the 2nd.So it’s 2-2 entering the 3rd and the Rangers clamp down on the Ducks (5 shots) and pour on the attack (15) shots, but Smith and Dion stop everything, and it’s on to OT. Then 26 seconds into the OT, Wickenheiser stuns the Ducks putting one past Smith for the game-winner!! The crowd in the Garden goes nuts!! Interesting game, CapJack gets 39 shots, and New Castle has 18. Cap controlled the faceoff circle grabbing 2/3 of them. Basically, it was Billy Smith and his 36 saves that kept the Ducks in it. STARS (all CAP) 1. Wickenheiser 1 goal 2. McNab 1 goal 3. Barr 1 goal
GAME #2: PORTLAND SASQUATCH VS. CAPJACK RANGERS	Can lightning strike twice, can Gretzky light up the Garden? What happens if the Rangers go wild on offense again? And can Resch approach Dion’s net minding? Well they are trying – they rattle off 21 SOG on Lemelin in the 1st and Pettersson is able to get one past him – it’s a Power Play Goal! Resch stops all 10 shots that get through to him. So we move to the 2nd. Different story in the 2nd, only 7 shots for CapJack, and none get past Lemelin – he’s looking strong. Big Foot gets 8 shots this period, but with the man advantage as the period is closing, Ciccarelli scores to even up the game at 1-1 through 2.So it’s off to the 3rd and the Rangers are starting hard and heavy 10 minutes in, Barr puts it past Lemelin to get the Rangers up 2-1. Then 2 1/2 to go, Gagne goes off for tripping – Rangers make them pay as Bjugstad scores a PP goal (Rangers had 7 PP opportunities – got 2) and it’s 3-1 CapJack! Portland gives it their best effort, pulls Lemelin and the Rangers score the empty netter to seal the game – Kromm is the accurate shooter. Then Foligno and Robertson end the game drawing fighting penalties. Again the Rangers gain a SOG edge: of 43-28 and a faceoff edge, of 62%-38% and it pays off. Resch does follow Dion well – and gets 1st star! STARS (all CAP) 1. Resch 27 saves 2. Petterson 1 goal 3. Kromm 1 goal
WEEKLY SUMMARY:	Rangers fans are used to seeing wins – and got 2 this week – but it was still surprising!!!! But enjoyed.

Chicago Underground
WEEKLY PREVIEW:	Chicago with two home games at the Capone Center this week, take on the Saints from St. Clair Shores Michigan, & the Mackinac Island Moose also from Michigan. Two solid teams roll on in, can they waltz on out?
GAME #1: SAINT CLAIR SHORES SAINTS VS. CHICAGO UNDERGROUND	After a scoreless first the Saints take a 1-0 lead at the end of two. They tack on another one early in the 3rd & sit back and play defense the rest of the way, getting only 1 more shot on goal in the 3rd period. Chicago plays with great force & offense and has 18 shots in the 3rd, but manages only 1 goal with 32 seconds left in the game. Captain Denis Savard once again has advice for Pelle Lindbergh. “You’re not going to win much around here, get yourself an expensive car so you have something to do after the games”. GAME #2: MACKINAC ISLAND MOOSE VS. CHICAGO UNDERGROUND	Teams are learning that Chicago doesn’t have much of an offense. Get a goal, play some defense and you will beat the Underground. The Moose do just that. Same style of play as the Saints. Holding a 4-1 lead after 2 periods of play Mackinac Island only gets 1 shot on goal in the 3rd. Chicago gets 15. But again can’t score. Denis Savard has advice once again for Pelle Lindbergh “Buckel up youngster, you’re in for a long season. You might even want to take up drinking”. WEEKLY SUMMARY:	Chicago gets two. Two goals that is. In two games. They are 0-6 so far. They are for sure the worst team in the Mid-West Old Tyme Hockey League.

Dallas Drakes
WEEKLY PREVIEW:	Drakes have 3 at home
GAME #1: PORTLAND SASQUATCH VS. DALLAS DRAKES	The Sasquatch come in 0-4 but get out quickly with Risto Siltanen beating Roberto Romano at the 2:08 mark, but that lead went up in smoke quickly as Reed Larson and Wilf Paiment both score 33 seconds apart from each other to give the Drakes the lead 2-1. Would the Sasquatch fold? Guy Carbonneau and Dino Ciccarelli put Portland back on top 3-2 and we are only 11:56 into the first period…….just as it looked that Portland would go into the intermission with the lead, Marcel Dionne deflects a Ron Greschner shot from the point on the Power play and it is tied at 3 at the end of 1. The second period was a horror show for the Sasquatch, Joe Mullen scores twice and Jim Peplinski scored as the Drakes go into the second intermission 6-3. Sinisalo scores at the 2-minute mark of the third as the Drakes lead 7-3, a late one from Stewart Gavin puts the game on ice 7-4
GAME #2: HYANNISPORT PRESIDENTS VS. DALLAS DRAKES	The Presidents come to town, but the Drakes come out firing. Bill Hajt, Rob Ramage, and Illka Sinisalo all score in the first period and this one is never really a game. Dallas wins going away 7-2 with both Mullen brothers scoring goals.
GAME #3: ANDES MOUNTAINEERS VS. DALLAS DRAKES	The first period is a pinball match with 5 goals scored by both teams. Sundstrom, Paiment, and Larson score for the Drakes, and Peterson and Naslund score for the Mountaineers with a 3-2 score going into the first intermission. Roberto Romano and Bob Suave both keep the sheet clean in the second period but in the third Peter Ihnacak and Ken Linseman score for the Drakes as they ice the game 5-2

WEEKLY PREVIEW:	A couple of home games this week against non-division foes as Cap Jack and Michigan come to town
GAME #1: CAPJACK RANGERS VS. TEXAS BRAHMAS	CapJack nets the first 2 in the 1st for a 2-0 lead at the break. Nilsson takes over in the 2nd, getting all three scores for the natural hatty and a 3-2 Texas lead after 2. Delorme gets a shorty to bump it to 4-2 before Kromm brings it back to a 1-goal game. Suter gets the final tally and a 5-3 Texas win 3 Stars (all Texas) 1. Nilsson – 3G 2. Delorme – 1G 3. Taylor – 3A
GAME #2: MICHIGAN STAGS VS. TEXAS BRAHMAS	Acton (Tex) and Velischek (MIC) trade short-handed goals to start the scoring. Pavelich gets his first of the year for a 2-1 Texas lead after 1. Tambellini brings Michigan eve before Tucker scores just before intermission and Texas is up 3-2 after 2. Taylor extends the lead to 4-2 before Shedden gets one past Herron with 11 seconds left to make it 4-3. Texas kills the remaining time and secures a 4-3 win. 3 Stars 1. Tambellini (Mic) – 1G, 1A 2. Acton (Tex) – 1G 3. Taylor Tex) – 1G
WEEKLY SUMMARY:	So many penalties. Not sure if it’s my team or the game, but there is a lot of time being spent in the box.

WEEKLY PREVIEW:	Charlotte hosted just its second home game in as many weeks when it entertained a Texas team that is off to a fast start and looks to be a contender for the Smythe division title. Despite its road-heavy schedule to open the season, the Dynamo entered Week #2 undefeated at 3-0-1. Could the Adams division leaders stay unbeaten through this latest week?

But Brahmas goalie Murray Bannerman, was — suffice to say — equal to the task with a spectacular game in nets (47 saves and 24 of those coming in the second period to keep Texas in the contest). Brahmas starting center Kent Nilsson lifted the visitors to victory with a pair of third-period goals against Charlotte third-string goalie Doug Keans that broke a 2-2 tie. WEEKLY PREVIEW:	The Ohio Legends welcome Hyannisport and Dallas this week.
GAME #1: HYANNISPORT PRESIDENTS VS. OHIO LEGENDS	Ohio 6, Hyannisport 5 OT The Ohio Legends used a pair of goals from Tony Tanti and squandered a 3-0 first-period lead before trailing with 5:26 to play. A Tim Kerr goal with 2:38 to play leveled the scores and Gordie Roberts ended the game at 3:36 of bonus time. Five different presidents scored for Hyannisport and Bobby Smith chipped in with four assists for the Legends. Pt Riggin stopped 23 shots in the win, while Greg Stefan turned away 27 in the loss.
GAME #2: DALLAS DRAKES VS. OHIO LEGENDS	Ohio 4, Dallas 2 The Ohio Legends utilized a pair of power-play goals in picking up a 4-2 win over the Dallas Drakes. Four different Ohio players netted goals in the triumph. Riggin again was solid in net, stopping 22 shots, while Glen Hanlon took the loss with 24 saves.
