| Vermont Foresters @ Saskatoon Cyclone | A crazy first period that saw SAS score twice in the first two minutes only to have VER roar back to end the period at 4-3 for the Foresters results in SAS coaching stuff pretty much benching the entire team except the Gretzky line (hmmm… a new strategy going forward methinks) and they play pretty much every minute from the midway point of the 2nd period on but it’s not enough as Vermont edges SAS 6-5. I’m guessing the newfound strategy was too much for the game as the game crashed twice in the last minute and again when saving the game scores. Ah well.

| San Diego Mariners @ CapJack Rangers | Each team scores 3 goals in one of the periods, the Rangers do in period 2 to get a 4-1 lead, Then after Perreault gets a goal 28 seconds into period 3, the Rangers score their 5th goal. Good thing as Sharpley and Simmer (2nd goal of the game) fire in two in the early minutes of the 3rd, but the Rangers hold on somehow – even a minute and a half of extra attacker didn’t do it for San Diego. FINAL 5-4 CapJack ODD STAT – the high flying Mariners only manage 1 shot on goal in the 1st. Stars 1. (SDM) – Simmer 2 goals, 1 assist 2. (CAP) – Shutt 2 goals 3. (SDM) – Perreault 1 goal, 2assists |
| Charlestown Chiefs @ CapJack Rangers | 18 penalties – a penalty shot (Potvin nailed for high sticking it to Kindrachuk on a breakaway. Kindrachuk is then stoned by Riggin and that proved to be the difference in the game. It was early in the 3rd and it was 2-1 Rangers, that would have made it 3-1. Charlestown then ties it on a Rutkowski unassisted goal at the halfway point. Murdoch then score 2 and 1/2 minutes later. The when McEwen gets called for interference with 4 minutes to go, the hometown fans so a serious meltdown. A minute into the penalty, Tremblay gets a SH goal to tie. | Pittsburgh Spirit @ Brooklyn Harbor Rats | Gartner scores :17 seconds into this divisional battle against the Spirit. Darryl Sittler ties things for the visitors early in the 2nd. With just :04 ticks left to the second intermission, Doug Hicks notches his first of the year and Brooklyn carries a 2-1 lead to the final period. Gartner’s second goal of the game seals things with under five minutes remaining and Bobby Smith throws one into the empty net for the final score. Harbor Rats 4, Spirit 1. |
| San Diego Mariners @ Brooklyn Harbor Rats | Three times the Mariners would grab the lead. Three times the Rats would score the tying goal, the last coming from Pat Hickey with 3:46 remaining in the game. But that was enough time for the Mariners as Ted Bulley puts them back on top with 1:07 left. Gerry Cheevers makes 43 saves, including 6 in that final minute for the San Diego road win. | CapJack Rangers @ Vermont Foresters | mike veisor gets hid 2nd start of the year in net against danny bouchard and the rangers. capjack struck 1st with steve shutt lighting the lamp only 6:27 into the game for the only goal of the period. don luce tied the game less then a minute into the second on a nice pass from craig ramsey. the foresters took the lead a minute and a half later when reggie leach tipped in a dennis kearns slapshot. mike foligno scored on the powerplay at 17:02 of the 2nd with kent nilsson getting his second assist of the game for a 3-1 lead. steve shutt tallied his 2nd of the game with less then a minute left in the 2nd to give the visitors some life heading into the 3rd. vermont kept the lead until late in the 3rd when danny gare scored on the powerplay after a questionable hooking penalty by dale mccourt. neither team was able to break the tie in the last 3 minutes and had to settle for the tie. vermont outshot capjack 34-20, most of the deficit from a 16-5 1st period. bouchard made 31 saves for the rangers. |

| Saint Croix Falls Lumberjacks @ Mackinac Island Moose | First appearance of the great Bobby Hull, hoping to inspire the team to an upset of the Lumberjacks. The goalies rule the first 2 periods, sending the game to the 3rd period 0-0. Meloche with 29 saves and Smith with 14. In the 3rd, the penalty fest against the home team continues, but the first tally is a shorty for the Moose with Lever busting loose to put the Moose up 1-0. But subsequent power plays for the visitors result in goals for the tree killers as Cashman and Payne convert to put Saint Croix Falls up 2-1. Russell evens the game up a little later for the home team to make it 2-2 and the goalies regain control of the game which ends in a tie. 8 powerplays for the visitors and none for the home team. 1st star – Meloche 46 saves 2nd star – Russell 1g 3rd star – Lever 1g |
